That statute does not care whether the desk is in Azca or in Poblenou.

Rent indexes disagree. Barrio maths does not.

2026 rent write-ups do not agree on which city is cheaper. Affordwhere-style 1-bed averages have put Madrid near €1,275 and Barcelona near €1,400. INE-flavoured city averages in the same year have put the two 1-beds a few tens of euros apart the other way. Catalonia's income tax can leave less of the same gross than Madrid's, on the order of a few hundred euros a year at graduate bands, not a new lifestyle.

That is too close to rank. Do not pick a city because a blog said rent is 9% lower. Pick the barrio against the offer. Malasaña is not Villaverde. Gracia is not Zona Franca.
