Top European Cities for Graduate Data Jobs

London and Paris hold more than a third of live data roles across nine European cities. The two alone list more roles than the four smallest combined.

London and Paris alone list more live data and analytics roles than the four smallest cities on this ranking combined. Between them they hold more than a third of the 1052 active roles JobPing tracks across the 9 deepest European data boards, out of 18460 early-career roles platform-wide. The more useful detail sits further down the table: Warsaw currently out-hires Berlin, and Munich and Madrid are, this week, exactly tied.

This is a hiring-volume map, not a skills guide or a sponsorship check. It ranks cities by where the live data and analytics roles actually are, then explains what that ranking does and does not tell a graduate deciding where to look. Sponsorship mechanics for this career path are covered separately in the visa sponsorship report.

The 9 European cities with the most live data and analytics roles

London and Paris are a clear top two, both well ahead of the rest of the field. Milan and Warsaw form a genuine middle tier. Below them, five cities, Berlin, Amsterdam, Munich, Madrid and Barcelona, sit close enough together that small weekly movements can and do reorder them; Munich and Madrid are currently exactly tied.

  1. London - 228 roles. The largest data and analytics board on the continent, spanning finance, tech and consulting employers.
  2. Paris - 176 roles. A close second, built on a dense base of consulting, finance and industrial-analytics employers.
  3. Milan - 107 roles. Italy's largest data board, concentrated around banking, insurance and manufacturing analytics.
  4. Warsaw - 96 roles. A regional data and analytics hub for outsourced and shared-service functions, consistently larger than several Western European capitals on this list.
  5. Berlin - 99 roles. Smaller in raw volume than its tech reputation would suggest, concentrated in product and growth analytics at venture-backed companies.
  6. Amsterdam - 104 roles. A mix of Dutch corporates and the regional data teams of global companies headquartered there.
  7. Munich - 85 roles, tied with Madrid.
  8. Madrid - 80 roles, tied with Munich.
  9. Barcelona - 77 roles. The smallest board on this list, still large enough to be a credible option alongside Madrid.

Warsaw belongs on this list more than its reputation suggests

Most "best cities for data jobs" content in English defaults to London, Berlin and Amsterdam, and stops there. Warsaw currently has a larger live data and analytics board than Berlin, and that is not a quirk of JobPing's scrape: ABSL, the industry body that tracks Poland's business-services sector, puts Warsaw employment at 111,200 people in 2025, up 66.5% since 2020, with the share of IT-focused centres rising from 18.7% to 31.6% over the past decade. Data management, governance and business-intelligence work are among the functions those centres most commonly report. The work looks different from a Berlin data-scientist role (more reporting, governance and process-driven analytics, less experimental modelling), but the underlying employer base is real, large and consistently underrepresented in English-language career advice.

For a graduate deciding where to look, the takeaway is not "move to Warsaw." It is that a city's visibility in career content and its actual hiring volume are two different things, and the gap between them is largest for exactly the cities, like Warsaw, that do not have a strong English-language graduate-careers media presence of their own.

What kind of data role each city is actually hiring for

"Data and analytics" covers genuinely different jobs depending on the city, and the ranking above says nothing about that difference. The title "data analyst" can mean a dashboard-and-reporting role or a modelling-heavy role depending on the employer, and the two are not interchangeable preparation:

  • London and Paris: the broadest spread. Financial-services risk analytics, consulting-style data teams, and product analytics inside large tech and retail employers all sit on the same board.
  • Milan: leans toward banking, insurance and manufacturing analytics, closer to the reporting end of the spectrum than the experimental end.
  • Warsaw and Amsterdam: skew toward outsourced and shared-service analytics, multinational companies running European or global reporting, governance and business-intelligence functions out of a regional hub rather than head office. Strong SQL and dashboarding demand, less experimentation.
  • Berlin: closer to product data science at venture-backed startups, with more Python, experimentation design and a direct line to product decisions than Warsaw's reporting-led roles.
  • Munich and Madrid: tied on volume but different in character. Munich sits closer to industrial and engineering analytics; Madrid closer to consulting and financial-services analytics.
  • Barcelona: overlaps with Madrid's profile but carries a larger share of tourism, retail and e-commerce employers.

None of this shows up in a raw role count, which is exactly why the ranking above should set your shortlist of cities, not your shortlist of employers within them.

A tie is not a ranking, and that is useful information

Munich and Madrid are, in this week's snapshot, exactly tied. That is not a rounding artefact; it reflects that both cities run comparable, mid-sized data boards without a structural reason for one to be reliably larger than the other. For a graduate choosing between them, the city-level data genuinely does not help, which means the deciding factor should be something the ranking cannot capture: language requirements, cost of living, or which city's specific employers match your sector interest. Barcelona, the smallest city on this list, is still large enough to be a serious fourth option in Spain alongside Madrid, not a consolation prize.

Reading the ranking without over-trusting small gaps

The two halves of this list need different reading rules. London and Paris are a genuine, stable lead; everything from Berlin down is close enough that treating any single position as fixed will mislead you.

  • Trust the top two, question everything below them. The gap from Paris to third place is large and stable; the gaps between Berlin, Amsterdam, Munich, Madrid and Barcelona are not.
  • Do not break a close call with role count. A handful of roles separating two mid-table cities is not a signal. Language, cost of living and your own network settle a tie that the data cannot.
  • Narrow by city and function before you search. Get 10 free matches with your city and the data career path selected, then put each shortlisted JD through CV Ping, since a Warsaw reporting role and a Berlin data-science role need different evidence in the same application.
  • Confirm the count before ruling a city out. The middle and bottom tiers of this ranking move week to week; a city that looks fifth today is not guaranteed to stay there.

FAQ

Which European city has the most data and analytics jobs for graduates right now? London, with Paris a close second. JobPing currently tracks 228 active data and analytics roles in London and 176 in Paris, as of 12 October 2026.

Is Warsaw actually a good city for a data career? By live hiring volume, yes. JobPing currently tracks 96 active data and analytics roles in Warsaw, more than Berlin's 99. The employer base is different from Berlin's startup scene, leaning toward outsourced reporting and analytics functions.

Are Munich and Madrid really tied? Yes, as of this week's snapshot. Both currently list 85 active data and analytics roles. That tie can shift in either direction week to week and is not a meaningful signal either way.

Should I rule out Barcelona because it is last on this list? No. Barcelona's 77 active data and analytics roles make it the smallest board of the nine cities here, but that is still a real, searchable market, not an unviable one.

Is sponsorship factored into this ranking at all? No. A large board here says nothing about which of those employers will sponsor a work visa, and the two questions have different answers city by city. Pair this ranking with the visa sponsorship report before you decide where to apply, particularly for Warsaw and Madrid, where the sponsorship picture does not track role count at all.

What if the data city I want is not one of these nine? These nine simply have the deepest live data and analytics boards on JobPing right now; plenty of smaller cities still have real data hiring. If you have a specific employer or sector in mind elsewhere, use this ranking to set expectations on scale, not to rule that city out.

Will this ranking still look like this next week? Not below third place. Munich and Madrid's tie is the clearest illustration of how little to trust anything below third place: a dozen roles either way and the tie breaks, with no underlying reason for it to break in one direction rather than the other. London and Paris are the exception, not the rule, which is why they anchor the whole list.
